What skills and abilities do you need to be a nursing assistant?
According to Mary Jane, "A registered nurse assistants need to have administrative skills, since patients' folders and paper need to be updated each time an examination is completed or when a new drug is prescribed."The nurse assistant may also be responsible for scheduling upcoming appointments for the patients or scheduling additional test that the patients may need as part of their treatment. Communication is an important skill that registered nurse assistants must have to perform their jobs effectively. Some patients are children, while others may be elderly people who need treatment at home. Mary Jane stated that,"A nurse assistant must be able to speak in a clear and effective manner to ensure that the patient understands what is being said." Communication is also important when the nurse assistant needs to inform other nurses or doctors of a patients health status or treatment options. A registered nurse assistant must be able to put personal tasks on hold when treating each patient in his or her unique comfort zone.
