What type of college do I need to attend?
Most registered nursers received their education through diploma programs. These were offered through local hospital and included a great deal of experience work with real patients along with classroom instructions. Diploma programs usually last from two to three years. As more and more associates degree in nursing programs become harder to find. According to the website, All Nursing Schools, "There are fewer than 100 of them left in the United States". Hospital diploma programs do not confer a degree, and do not allow graduates to take the NCLEX-RN. According to Luke Arthur, to become a registered nurse, you can take one of the three routes. You can become an LPN first and then take an additional year of school to transition into the position of registered nurse. Luke Arthur also stated that, "You could also get an associate degree from a community college, which takes two years". The third route that you could take is to get a bachelor's degree from a university, which will take you four years to complete.
